Happy Thanksgiving!

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in New Zealand, and technically thanksgiving day was yesterday for us Kiwis! But sharing in an atmosphere of gratitude is always a good idea in my books, so here are some of the things I am especially grateful for. (By the way, don't you think grateful should be spelled G-R-E-A-T-ful? Because it is GREAT to be thankful and to have things to be greatful for. Yes. I am going to spell it like that now. Maybe.)

So those are some of the things I'm greatful for! The list of things I am actually greatful for is pretty long, but I don't want to bore everyone with a long long loooong list of everything that makes me happy, considering how mundane and little the things that make me happy are. (Like beds. Praise God for beds.)

What are you grateful for this day and every day? :)

Let's not forget that thankfulness and gratitude isn't just for holidays. It's an attitude for living. I'm guilty of not saying 'thank you' enough or telling people how much they mean to me, but I'm trying to get in the habit because every person who brings some joy into my life is worth saying that to at least once.

And, my lovely readers and friends, thank you. Reading comments always makes my day! And the slowly growing number of pageviews makes me feel very happy and loved. Thank you for dropping by and for taking an interest in what I have to say, however random I can be!

Love always,

Sometimes I think I'm a bumblebee [Outfit Post]

Hey there! Today is edition one of Let’s Laugh at the Fat Potato! Okay, okay, self-deprecation aside, this is probably not an edition of anything. But I've decided to be more open on my blog about how I dress and look, and you know what? You can laugh at me because I’m fat or ugly or whatever you want to think about me. D:< I don’t care! (Well, I do, but I’m going to pretend I don’t which is very close to not caring!)

(Besides I’m not remotely famous enough to be mocked, so I don’t have to worry about internet trolls, right?)

Anyway, this was what I was wearing the other day for a friend’s 21st birthday party! As you can see from the photos I lost my gigantic bow sometime during the night (along with my lipstick apparently! Should've retouched, aye!). It’s apparently with a friend, so I can grab it next time I see her.

Okay, okay, procrastinating time is over. Here are pictures of moi

And I think I’ll explain the post title as you go through the photos. :D

Sometimes I think I’m a bumblebee

Today I’m black and yellow

But tomorrow I will no longer be(e)

Still I'll think I’m a bumblebee

I’m round and cute, or so I think

I’ll sting you if you hurt me

Then remember it and feel bad

But soon I’ll keep on happily

Sure, sometimes I’ll be down

But I’ll buzz on because I’m a bumblebee!

How was my random poem?!

I think it was kind of weird, but I think I’ll do outfit posts like this from now on.  (Because I’m childish and weird, okay?)

This happy little bumblebee post is dedicated to my dad because he thinks I’m a big ball of depression (not that he’s going to read this!).

For more info about what I’m wearing, check out my outfit on Chictopia.

Oh, and I finally made a personal fashion post because I’m doing the Fashion Dare (See that button to the side?). I've been really lazy with posting photos of myself and/or taking photos in the first place even when I dress up! But I have a camera now, so I really have no excuse. Yes, laziness is excuse, but it's not a good one. Therefore, I will no longer use it in regards to my blog. Hihi.

What do you think of my poem? Or my outfit? Like my bow? Hate it? Hate me? (Please say no!) Leave a comment below!

Sincerely the Wannabe Empress Bumblebee,

P.S. Those cool lights things I’m standing in front of are in Aotea Square! It leads to the parking lot under Metro, I think. I pass it by every time I go home at night. :)

Disclaimer: Pictures were taken by my and my boyfriend

My Life Mondays : Oops I disappeared

I know I fail really hard. I was supposed to follow a schedule and be a good onto-it blogger, but NOPE. Instead I got caught up with life the past fortnight and simply chose to ignore my little slice of the internet.

Straight up it's because I'm scared if I post pictures of myself I'll get hate. Since I've classified myself as 'gyaru' I'm worried about all the potential hate I could get from the gaijin gyaru community. Let's face it. You girls can be oh-so-catty.

But that video that Lizzie and Gal VIP have been talking about lately reminded me that gyaru fashion is about being happy. And the only person's happiness you have to worry about when dressing up should be your own. So you know what, I'll just post pictures of my fat butt (not literally my butt - okay?), and you can laugh at me, whatevs.

Pics like this. No contacts, no falsies, no sleep, no nuthin' (Except liner lols)
Oh, and these pictures aren't even going to be gyaru since I was lazy those days. Yeah, okay, I fail. (That one above was right before a 5k, heehee)

BUT FIRST.

Life Updates

1) Yesterday I jogged-walked (but mostly walked) a 5k with my current place of employment (Not supposed to say where, sorry!) for the Dunedin Hospital's children's ward :)

2) All the Christmas presents I ordered from Chrisco have arrived!

3) I gave the wrong address for my Taobao order, so it's not here yet. Still trying to sort it out with NZ Post. They said they'd call me, but they haven't. So I'll give them a call in an hour or so.

4) I finally have a camera! It's a simple point-and-shoot. But I adore it! :) It's a purple Panasonic Lumix, and it came with a memory card. YES.

I got one in purple!

5) I recently went to two good friends' 21st birthday celebrations! For one, we were pirates, and for the other it was totally chillax. Either way we had fun! And it was a great chance to reconnect with old friends from high school.

6) When I was a kid, I actually went to a Chinese school. I didn't take my Mandarin and Fookien classes seriously, so I failed in a major way. I didn't remember anything except how to write my own name. But I really do love Chinese culture, and I would really love to be able to speak Mandarin, so I'm trying to study it again! I'm going to try to make friends on italki and just talk and study my way into passable Mandarin. Here's to working hard and making new friends!

7) I am eagerly waiting to start working at the place I am not supposed to say I work at. It's a retail store! And I love their products! And my manager specifically told us to dress up! Which means I have every excuse to go full-on gyaru every time I have a shift. The stars have aligned for me, I tell you. :D

I am going to be working at a shoe store!!!!!!

8) I am in love with our Xbox 360. I'm finally getting in touch with my console gamer side after having abandoned it for over six years.

9) Started spending more time with my family again. I still don't see them 'regularly', but it's way better than back when I was seeing them once a month or so even though they only live a bus ride away. Haha!

10) Last update is I'm seriously looking into traveling next year! I need to work hard and save smart for airfare and expenses, so I can revisit Singapore and the Philippines and check out Malaysia! More on that some other post. :)

Okay, now where are those photos I was talking about?

I think I'll save them for another post! This one's long enough as it is. Heehee!

Love always,

P.S. I promise I'll post outfit photos next time!

Things I Love Thursday {Geekette Version}

Hey! Today's post is going to be a Things I Love Thursday (T.I.L.T.) Geekette version! I remember a few years ago it felt like everyone was doing TILTs - Do people still even do it these days?

Whatever, I don't care!

Check out all these cool random geeky stuff. These are the things I love this Thursday!

GISHWHES stands for the Greatest Internet Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. It's run by the amazing Misha Collins whom I adore, and this year I'm taking part! There are all these crazy items on the list, and I'm going to go mental on Friday working on all the images I should have worked on today and yesterday. (Sorry, team, I couldn't function after our group chat and just crashed ALL DAY)

Rosanna Pansino runs an awesome cooking show on YouTube called Nerdy Nummies. I cannot believe I only found out about it two days ago! I am in love. If you're a major geek/nerd/I-love-cutely-decorated-food-fan, then you have got to check out her channel! The best part is you don't have to be a great cook to be do what she does. She often uses prepackaged mixes for her cupcakes and cakes, and, girl, I am loving it because I cannot - cannot - cook! (Of course, if you are a great cook, that just means your creations are going to be 2345678x better than mine, so still go for it, k?!)

I'm going to tell you a little secret. I keep saying I'm a major geek, but I haven't watched Star Trek! It's a travesty. But you don't need to have watched Star Trek or even be a geek at all to enjoy Wil Wheaton (from Star Trek and The Big Bang Theory) and his hilarious and informative show TableTop. Every Thursday Wil and a few of his friends come together and play fun random games, and every week I end up adding a new title to my list of MUST BUY games. Also, if you enjoy watching Wil Wheaton lose, definitely watch this show!

So those were my three main loves for the week!

And here are some other things I love...

Taobao • America's Next Top Model • My friend Irene • Debit cards • Nail polish • Skype • Twitter • Primo chocolate milk • Nesquik cereal • Assassin's Creed 3 • The look on my bf's face as he unboxed his collector's edition Assassin's Creed 3 • Sleeping in • Oatmeal • McDonald's • Meeting new people (online and offline!) • Fable 3 • Finishing a sequence in AC3 before my bf could (hah!) • Plans to go out

What are the things YOU love this week?

Let me know in the comments (or on Twitter!)
