GEO Nudy Brown Circle Lenses

Orange lipstick, cheesy smile, orange hair, GEO Nudy Brown lenses
Hello, lovelies!

Guess why I am intensely happy?! It’s all for a very simple reason – I have circle lenses again!

I am the proud owner of GEO Nudy Brown lenses which I got off TradeMe. Normally I would buy a pair of lenses from a shop like oh, I dunno… Eyecandylens or Shoppingholics. But the seller has 100% positive feedback!

So I thought to myself… What the hey! Let’s buy a pair!

Now you may be wondering what the circle lenses are like, right?! So here’s a perfectly honest review about the GEO Nudy Brown circle lenses I got from TradeMe. :)

But first… Photo spam!

Information about the Circle Lenses

Water content: 38%
Duration: 1 year
Diameter: 14.00 mm
Base Curve: 8.6

The actual size of the lenses are pretty small (or standard?!) for circle lenses, so they’re great for beginners in terms of size. They’re not like OMG THAT’S MASSIVE, and since they’re circle lenses, no, you won’t think ‘Did it even do anything?!’ Duration is a year, again pretty standard with circle lenses. I’ll see if these will actually last me a year, or if I’ll accidentally wreck them or something. Water content is normal. Base curve – I don’t know anything about that, haha!

Here we go! Here’s how the circle lenses look under different conditions.

Review: What do I think?

GEO Nudy Brown are my third pair of circle lenses ever, but so far they're my favourite! They're enlarging but still a natural and respectable size. When I wear them, I forget they're there. So far I haven't had moments where the world suddenly blurs because of the lenses (Why does that even happen?!). They're super comfortable. I love the design in person and in pictures. The colour isn't amazing though. I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it exactly. Maybe I was expecting a browner brown. This looks more hazel to me. But I love how the colour shows really well on my dark brown might-as-well-be-black eyes. :D

Final Result?

4/5I love these lenses so much! And I will most likely buy them again (unless I find a pair I like more!)

What do you think? :)

Do you like GEO lenses? What do you think of these lenses? What about my bedhead? I'm a mess, I know! Haha!

Meet Berry the Pukikpuki BJD!

Hello there, beautiful!

This is my beautiful doll, Berry! He - yes, he is a he, although I do so enjoy dressing him up in dresses and bows! Berry is a precious little thing, fitting neatly into the palm of my hand. He's roughly the size of Barbie's baby sister Kelly.

Same size as my baby but not as pose-friendly!
Berry is my very first ball-jointed doll, a masterful creation, and he cost me a bit of money. I will probably spend more on him as the years go by because he will fit perfectly into a dollhouse. No regrets! I will love Berry forever! (You know what they say about firsts!) I bought him second-hand off someone I met through Facebook via New Zealand's BJD club.

Why did I get myself a BJD in spite of them being expensive and me being a broke person half the time?

Well...

  • I've wanted one since high school. Blame it on people in my circle of friends, flaunting their expensive and exquisite darlings!
  • They're hand-crafted! Each one is special and wonderful and precious - And I love them all!
  • Justin told me he was scared of dolls, and that in itself is reason to buy one - He has since gotten over BJD's, but porcelain dolls are 'usually creepy'.
  • I wanted to give one a loving home and take plenty of pictures with it! Granted, I haven't done this in a while with Berry. :(
  • Second-hand = cheaper! Buying one brand-new means no clothes, pay for shipping, pay for sanding, pay for the body and face paint and no wigs or eyes or anything. Buying second-hand meant that Berry already came with some clothes, a bed, a cute little dog, a carpet, a wig and eyes. :D

For me, these are very good reasons because Berry makes me happy. In my opinion, if something makes me happy and doesn't hurt anyone, that's in and of itself a fantastic reason! The only thing that got hurt was my bank account, but that's okay because you can always earn more money. :)

On to the pictures!

With his precious little dog named Dog (I suck at naming toys!)

Jumping for joy on his bed! (Do you like his wallpaper?! It's actually a painting)

Look into his eyes and be mesmerized!

Do you know why his name is Berry?

His previous owner named him Kuma (which is bear in Japanese)

Bear-y = Berry (plus berries are sweet! Ya know, like him!)

I bought lace doilies for him to use as pillows and blankets!

He is trying to be a little ballerino!

Barefoot because he's Kiwi (Hey! Spot that picture of Justin and I in the background!)

And the shoes are back on!

I bought him a rocking horse because he's worth it.

And bonus! His lovely little nightie!

What do you think of my precious?!

I hope you love him nearly as much as I do because he is wonderful! And oh so very photogenic! I should probably take outfit photos with him, but I meant to debut him on the blog before doing so! (And I guess I finally have, so look forward to that!)

If you want more photos of this handsome and also gorgeous boy, check out this Facebook album! It's open to the public, but I think you need to be logged in?! I am completely unsure. :/ But check it out for the cuteness! Oh, and if you're curious to see him dressed as a boy, I suppose you should check it out...

Stay wonderful,

Taobao Order!

I'm so excited! I'm finally pushing through with my first Taobao order. Technically I've ordered from Taobao before, but this is the first time I'm the one who's dealing with the shopping service. The other times I've ordered anything, my friends were the ones who dealt with the service.

Anyway! This is just going to be a vain shallow post to show what I'm ordering. If you want something deep, just skip this one, I guess. If you want to get a feel for my taste, keep reading!

Oh, and I'm including a few links to the shops I ordered from!

Before we begin...

Let me explain what Taobao is for the uninitiated! Basically it's like a great Chinese Ebay/Amazon/Rakuten/TradeMe. You've got individuals selling items (they have EVERYTHING), and you have businesses selling too. Some are handmade, and some are mass-produced. Okay, most are mass-produced.

Why should you care about Taobao?

BECAUSE TAOBAO IS CHEAP.

If you factor in the fact that a) China sells cheap things and b) the exchange rate is most definitely in your favour, then all signs point to... Taobao = cheap = happy fashionista!

I'll go more in-depth about Taobao some other time, but for now note these things.

  • Choose which shops you buy from carefully! Some are more reputable than others.
  • Don't forget to factor in shipping! If you live in an Asian country, your shipping is wayyy cheaper than shipping to Europe, Australia&New Zealand or to the Americas.
  • You need to use a shipping/shopping service unless you have a Chinese address!
  • Taobao has everything. EVERYTHING.
  • The website is in Mandarin Chinese (Or is it Cantonese...?). Unless you can read it, use Google Chrome for awesome translations!
  • If you need help, you can tweet me or ask for help on Tumblr. There are plenty of people who are infatuated with Taobao and would love to help you. :)
Okay, back to my selfish ways.

Here are the things I'm ordering!

Not all of the items I wanted to order were accepted. :( It makes me really sad, but oh well! I guess that gives me an excuse to try out a different shopping service!

If you know a shopping service, that gives a discount on shipping like Yoybuy does, let me know!

And here are my precious.

Beauty-related

LR TB - Upper lashes, scarf (Nowhere else to put this...), brushes (YES!), lower lashes

Every gyaru needs a never-ending supply of lashes, right?!

Well, I am ashamed to say I don't have any sets of lower lashes. :( I kept ruining mine while trying to figure it out. Then my cheap side came out and said "STOP BUYING THIS STUFF. IT'S EXPENSIVE." So I waited for a Taobao order to buy them in 'bulk'.

As for the brushes, I have a few already from my friend's Avon biz! But I wanted to have a complete set for cheap, so I thought I'd try buying some from this store because it had a great rating. (And it was cheap.)

I forgot what colour of scarf I ordered, so I shall be surprised when it arrives!

Jewellery

The Hunger Games items aren't for me! I got them for a couple of friends for Christmas. :) (Plus I already have HG pins) I'm in love with the Superman ring, so I hope it fits my fingers! The necklace, I have no words for. It's just cute.

As you can see, my tastes are pretty eclectic. One the one hand, I love punkish/rocker stuff, and I also love cute things, sophisticated items, whatever. It makes for a fun wardrobe but also one that may take time to work with. Ah well. C'est la vie!

I admit I went nuts with the jewellery! Maybe I'll come to my senses and not keep everything... In which case we could have an international giveaway coming up!

There are a couple of items I didn't showcase because it didn't fit my 2x2 picture format! (OCD much?)

Wigs

LR TB - Split wig, natural wig, natural with highlights, crazy super awesome w/ poofs

What do you think of these babies?! I am so keen to have them sitting in my room and most especially... On my head! I only have 3 wigs at the moment (one straight blonde, one cosplay and one cury split red and black), and of those I only wear one regularly.

These wigs will be a welcome addition to my life!

Okay, okay, enough about me and the beautiful things that will be coming into my life. Here's a little something for you!

Since I know Taobao can be a bit of a monster for first-timers...

You can have a look at a couple of links! This is just a teaser list really. I'll post a more comprehensive one some other time!

Check out these links!

To be honest, I don't know if the names I'm listing these shops under are correct, but the links are definitely right!

Vivian Wig

This shop was recommended to me by a friend! They sell a variety of different styled wigs, but they focus on a more natural look. I doubt you'll find any crazy rainbow coloured or ombre-style hair in this shop. BUT you'll find a lot of gorgeous wigs for a more natural look.

Water Dance Lufthansa (水舞莎)

I found this shop while I was on a taobao window shopping spree! I think I was desperately looking for wigs with gorgeous but unusual hair colours and styles (You know, so I can try different looks out without committing?!), then I stumbled upon this one! This is the shop that carries that fiesty purple-pink-rainbow-streaked pastel goth-esque wig from a couple of pictures back.

Luosha Baby (洛莎宝贝)

If you love looking at cute cuddly things, you definitely want to pop by this shop! They have a fantastic selection of cute things like Rilakumma coats, pillows and plushies, among a lot of other things. I was planning to get a few items from here but the shopping service rejected it because Rilakumma is branded. :( Next time!

Caida Sanjiang (财达三江)

And if you're on this blog, you probably have a love affair with girly things. If that's the case, you might want to check out this shop since they offer a variety of goods like tights, leggings, hair accessories and jewellery. I went nuts in the jewellery section.

Those are the shops!  When I said a few links, I really did mean it, you know. ;)

So what do you think of my soon-to-be-very-own lovelies? Have you heard of Taobao before? Bought anything?

By the way, this post is linked to Loving Lately! The link will bring you to one of the hosts of this blog party, Glossy Blonde! :)

Let me know what you think in the comments below (or on Twitter since I'm addicted to that too!)

P.S. Comments make my day! They really do!

I met Supernatural stars! [Armageddon Expo 2012]

Kia ora, everyone! I’ve been in a spectacular mood since Sunday when I went to partake in the geeky festivities that is the ArmageddonExpo. Let me tell you all about it!

What is the Armageddon Expo though, you might ask? Are you familiar with Comic Con? It’s like New Zealand’s answer to US conventions. It’s four fun-filled and fantastic days where geekiness, pop culture, shopping, awesome costumes and people come together to make a crowded and spectacular thing. I’m making it sound really awesome. Please take my words with a grain of salt. I’m still on an emotional high.
WHY am I so happy?

Going Gyaru – With Shop Links [PICTURE HEAVY]

Let’s go window shopping!

Gyaru, gyaru, gyaru. It’s a style people love and hate. It’s a style where people can be utterly ruthless but also amazingly sweet. It’s a crazy kinda up and down loop-de-loop rollercoaster, and I want in on it. Do you want in too?

NOTE: This is an updated version of my previous post which you can see here!

Valley Girl + etc HAUL

Hey gals!

Long time no blog, aye? :) I hope you’ve all been doing fabulously! I certainly am feeling happy – I FINALLY have internet again after three weeks! And I went on an awesome shopping spree on the 4th of September. It was half-impulse and half-planned. I’ve been meaning to buy a pair of decent black flats and a pair of slippers for ages and ages, so when I was at Westfield Henderson mall, I couldn’t resist.

If you want to skip ahead to pictures of my haul, they’re further down the page. Most items are from Number 1 Shoe and Valley Girl. One item is from Kmart. And a few are gifts from my wonderful Mommy who got them in Singapore/Philippines!

Shoes, shoes, shoes! [Happie Nuts Focus #1]

Kia ora, everyone! I love shoes: staring at them, lusting after them, taking pictures in them and of them, prancing about at home in new shoes… etc. Shoes are awesome! And heels are especially so. They’re so magicaaaaal. (My boyfriend disagrees, but he’s a boy – therefore, irrelevant opinion!)

Anyway since I love shoes, and you probably too if you’re looking at a gyaru-inspired blog, let’s take a look at shoes. This is going to be a regular feature on Wannabe Empress – taking a look at shoes as featured by different gal blogs! If I can find some, I’ll look for shop links of replicas and similar beauties for your footsies. :]

(Note! I will probably only be hunting around on Taobao and New Zealand shops. Not familiar with Jap shops yet :[ I know! Disgrace!)

Let’s begin!

Gonna go Gyaru! A shopping list

Hullo! :)

People who know me very well are probably extremely aware that I am obsessed with a certain number of things. 1) Being extremely geeky or nerdy 2) Zombies 3) GYARU

Since I dedicate a lot of my time to talking about the other two, I will now tell you about gyaru and then go on and add in my shopping list. (Don't worry, Mommy! I won't buy everything in one go! :P)
