Meet Berry the Pukikpuki BJD!

Hello there, beautiful!

This is my beautiful doll, Berry! He - yes, he is a he, although I do so enjoy dressing him up in dresses and bows! Berry is a precious little thing, fitting neatly into the palm of my hand. He's roughly the size of Barbie's baby sister Kelly.

Same size as my baby but not as pose-friendly!
Berry is my very first ball-jointed doll, a masterful creation, and he cost me a bit of money. I will probably spend more on him as the years go by because he will fit perfectly into a dollhouse. No regrets! I will love Berry forever! (You know what they say about firsts!) I bought him second-hand off someone I met through Facebook via New Zealand's BJD club.

Why did I get myself a BJD in spite of them being expensive and me being a broke person half the time?

Well...

  • I've wanted one since high school. Blame it on people in my circle of friends, flaunting their expensive and exquisite darlings!
  • They're hand-crafted! Each one is special and wonderful and precious - And I love them all!
  • Justin told me he was scared of dolls, and that in itself is reason to buy one - He has since gotten over BJD's, but porcelain dolls are 'usually creepy'.
  • I wanted to give one a loving home and take plenty of pictures with it! Granted, I haven't done this in a while with Berry. :(
  • Second-hand = cheaper! Buying one brand-new means no clothes, pay for shipping, pay for sanding, pay for the body and face paint and no wigs or eyes or anything. Buying second-hand meant that Berry already came with some clothes, a bed, a cute little dog, a carpet, a wig and eyes. :D

For me, these are very good reasons because Berry makes me happy. In my opinion, if something makes me happy and doesn't hurt anyone, that's in and of itself a fantastic reason! The only thing that got hurt was my bank account, but that's okay because you can always earn more money. :)

On to the pictures!

With his precious little dog named Dog (I suck at naming toys!)

Jumping for joy on his bed! (Do you like his wallpaper?! It's actually a painting)

Look into his eyes and be mesmerized!

Do you know why his name is Berry?

His previous owner named him Kuma (which is bear in Japanese)

Bear-y = Berry (plus berries are sweet! Ya know, like him!)

I bought lace doilies for him to use as pillows and blankets!

He is trying to be a little ballerino!

Barefoot because he's Kiwi (Hey! Spot that picture of Justin and I in the background!)

And the shoes are back on!

I bought him a rocking horse because he's worth it.

And bonus! His lovely little nightie!

What do you think of my precious?!

I hope you love him nearly as much as I do because he is wonderful! And oh so very photogenic! I should probably take outfit photos with him, but I meant to debut him on the blog before doing so! (And I guess I finally have, so look forward to that!)

If you want more photos of this handsome and also gorgeous boy, check out this Facebook album! It's open to the public, but I think you need to be logged in?! I am completely unsure. :/ But check it out for the cuteness! Oh, and if you're curious to see him dressed as a boy, I suppose you should check it out...

Stay wonderful,

Things I Love Thursday {Geekette Version}

Hey! Today's post is going to be a Things I Love Thursday (T.I.L.T.) Geekette version! I remember a few years ago it felt like everyone was doing TILTs - Do people still even do it these days?

Whatever, I don't care!

Check out all these cool random geeky stuff. These are the things I love this Thursday!

GISHWHES stands for the Greatest Internet Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. It's run by the amazing Misha Collins whom I adore, and this year I'm taking part! There are all these crazy items on the list, and I'm going to go mental on Friday working on all the images I should have worked on today and yesterday. (Sorry, team, I couldn't function after our group chat and just crashed ALL DAY)

Rosanna Pansino runs an awesome cooking show on YouTube called Nerdy Nummies. I cannot believe I only found out about it two days ago! I am in love. If you're a major geek/nerd/I-love-cutely-decorated-food-fan, then you have got to check out her channel! The best part is you don't have to be a great cook to be do what she does. She often uses prepackaged mixes for her cupcakes and cakes, and, girl, I am loving it because I cannot - cannot - cook! (Of course, if you are a great cook, that just means your creations are going to be 2345678x better than mine, so still go for it, k?!)

I'm going to tell you a little secret. I keep saying I'm a major geek, but I haven't watched Star Trek! It's a travesty. But you don't need to have watched Star Trek or even be a geek at all to enjoy Wil Wheaton (from Star Trek and The Big Bang Theory) and his hilarious and informative show TableTop. Every Thursday Wil and a few of his friends come together and play fun random games, and every week I end up adding a new title to my list of MUST BUY games. Also, if you enjoy watching Wil Wheaton lose, definitely watch this show!

So those were my three main loves for the week!

And here are some other things I love...

Taobao • America's Next Top Model • My friend Irene • Debit cards • Nail polish • Skype • Twitter • Primo chocolate milk • Nesquik cereal • Assassin's Creed 3 • The look on my bf's face as he unboxed his collector's edition Assassin's Creed 3 • Sleeping in • Oatmeal • McDonald's • Meeting new people (online and offline!) • Fable 3 • Finishing a sequence in AC3 before my bf could (hah!) • Plans to go out

What are the things YOU love this week?

Let me know in the comments (or on Twitter!)

I met Supernatural stars! [Armageddon Expo 2012]

Kia ora, everyone! I’ve been in a spectacular mood since Sunday when I went to partake in the geeky festivities that is the ArmageddonExpo. Let me tell you all about it!

What is the Armageddon Expo though, you might ask? Are you familiar with Comic Con? It’s like New Zealand’s answer to US conventions. It’s four fun-filled and fantastic days where geekiness, pop culture, shopping, awesome costumes and people come together to make a crowded and spectacular thing. I’m making it sound really awesome. Please take my words with a grain of salt. I’m still on an emotional high.
WHY am I so happy?

The Command Line Crash Course

Hi again!

Currently I am going through The Command Line Crash Course. It's basically a free online book made by the awesome Zed A. Shaw, also known as the author of Learn Python The Hard Way. I won't link to it because TCLCC is from the same website! :)

So why am I learning the basics in messing around with my computer's shell?
