Gonna go Gyaru! A shopping list

Hullo! :)

People who know me very well are probably extremely aware that I am obsessed with a certain number of things. 1) Being extremely geeky or nerdy 2) Zombies 3) GYARU

Since I dedicate a lot of my time to talking about the other two, I will now tell you about gyaru and then go on and add in my shopping list. (Don't worry, Mommy! I won't buy everything in one go! :P)

Gyaru 

Gyaru is for some people a fashion style. For others, it's a lifestyle. I'm a bit on the fence at the moment, so I'll go with the Wikipedia version and say it's a type of street fashion that originated in the 80s. It has, however, evolved to encompass A LOT of new substyles like agejo, ane, hime, amekaji, onee, mode, etc.

How do you characterise it? 

I'm lazy, so I'll just copy this definition from "What is Gyaru?". (Emphasis mine though!)

Gyaru fashion is typically characterized by dyed hair (which is often lightened to varying shades of brown or blonde), excessively decorated nails, and makeup. This makeup typically consists of dark eyeliner, and dramatic fake eyelashes; gyaru sometimes wear cosmetic circle lenses as well to enhance the size of their irises, to add more width to their eyes. Brands cater to this particular trend by producing fake eyelashes, circle lenses, and other cosmetics. Typically Gyarus are known for being tan, but that is not always the case.

Clothing wise, gyaru can vary depending on personal style...

So now you sort of know what gyaru is! If you don't, that's okay. Just know gyaru are really really into looking over-the-top gorgeous. Fake hair, fake lashes, fake tans. It's like photoshopping yourself in real life! They get stereotyped as being 'promiscuous' and 'fake', but who cares what the haters say anyway.

What about ME? 

Personally I love agejo, ane and onee-gyaru! :) Since I'm twenty now, I should really begin to ditch my kiddie clothes and start looking more 'mature'. *gag gag* Haha, seriously though? I love the sophisticated sex appeal of onee-gyaru, the uber glam take-me-now feel of agejo and the rebellion of ane! I will probably go for onee-gyaru the most though since it will probably be easier to find onee-gyaru pieces in New Zealand compared to the other two. Maybe? :D

• Fake lashes (upper and lower)

Out of this list, I have the eyeliner, eye shadow, lashes and mascara! Four more to go~

The idea is to have eyes and makeup like these!

Accessories 

• Large over-the-top sunnies 
• Nerdy glasses 
• Hello Kitty nerdy glasses 
• Huge statement purses and bags (Must be branded for the Onee feel!)
• Blingy nails 
• Lots and lots of classy bling :)

This one... I have to work on. A lot. But since accessories always come across as too expensive for me, I'll put these off until I have more money!

Shoes

• All kinds of heels. Srsly. Heels.

I have a lot of heels. Just need to wear them more! :)

• Buy a lot of dresses. 

Note to self: Wear my dresses more often.

• Distressed denim 
• Black dress shorts 

Oh. And NUMBER ONE on my shopping list? :) A fit body! (I'm too fat, man! I need to get fit and healthy)

So, that's my list! Need to stalk Taobao for some goodies for me. :) And lovely old Valley Girl and Glassons for cheap Kiwi goodness.
